Wood Family Trust invests in economic, community and enterprise initiatives in Sub Saharan Africa and the UK which develop and support individuals to become caring and contributing members of society.
Investment Fund; Venture Philanthropist
The Wood Family Trust (WFT) was established by Sir Ian Wood and his immediate family in September 2007.
A Scottish based Trust with a Global outlook, WFT invests in economic, community and enterprise initiatives in Sub Saharan Africa and the UK which develop and support individuals to become caring and contributing members of society.
WFT applies the principles of venture philanthropy, recognising that money alone will not solve some of society’s greatest inequalities. We are innovative in our application of knowledge and finance and we work closely with other private, public and charitable partners to achieve systemic change within our chosen areas.
WFT’s role in project management has increased; we either lead projects or take an active supporting role with strategic partners. We work in collaboration with our partners and invested organisations to develop the project implementation plan and performance evaluation criteria
WFT has the ability to utilise a range of financing tools within its philanthropic programmes ranging from grants, contracts with consultants, debt, equity and loans
