A Better World by Design Each year, A Better World by Design brings a global community of innovators to Providence, Rhode Island to reach across disciplines and unite under a common goal: building a better world.

Fellowship Program

OVERVIEW

Description

A Better World By Design grew out of four students’ desire to explore how design could save the world. They worked to blend the best of Brown and RISD, merging the humanities with the natural sciences and design with industry. Since the first conference in 2008, we’ve influenced both institutions’ curricula, spawned a number of collaborations outside the conference, and created a growing community of socially conscious designers in Providence and around the globe.

PROGRAM DETAILS AND REQUIREMENTS

Program Details

A Better World by Design is an annual conference put on by students at Brown and RISD that focuses on environmentally and socially conscious design. Each fall, we bring together over 1,000 entrepreneurs, academics, creatives, inventors, and activists to propose interdisciplinary, design-oriented solutions to the world’s biggest problems. Join us in Providence to talk, eat, think and help us spread the word about the work that Better World showcases. What happens at Better World does not, by any means, stay at Better World--and that’s exactly how we like it
