Community health financing projects across 14 states in India and 2 districts in Nepal From 2012-2014, as Deputy Director-Implementation, Micro Insurance Academy, New Delhi, I provide technical and managerial support for health microinsurance projects with an annual budget of over USD 1 million, in India and Nepal, with a core team of 6 Project Managers, and an extended team of over 12 members (comprising of trainers, researchers, and communication members). I have been instrumental in initiating and setting up 4 such projects and supporting the development of another 2 existing projects in India and Nepal, funded by international organisations such as DFID, World Bank, Save the Children etc. My current work also requires working on various health financing elements such as conducting epidemiological and cost-of-illness studies for premium calculations, developing Management Information Systems (MIS), data analysis using MIS databases, and generating field based evidence. I regularly use software packages such as SPSS, MS-Excel, and nVivo, to conduct various quantitative and qualitative data analysis related to baseline studies, and process documentation. My work also includes establishing linkages of health microinsurance schemes with health service delivery, health education (such as maternal health and malaria), and public schemes such as RSBY etc. In my current role, I also provide managerial and technical support to a randomized evaluation on the impact of community-based health insurance (CBHI) among rural populations in states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. I am also involved as Principal Investigator for an operations research study on access to medicines using mixed methods research design, and developing a smart-phone server-based MIS for managing logistics and programme monitoring with support from HITLAB, USA. I have experience of conducting a controlled before-and-after study design as part of a World Bank funded CBHI implementation project in Chhattisgarh State. Over the years I have worked extensively in the area of maternal and child health, such as developing community health financing solutions for increasing access to maternal and neonatal care in Nanded city; evaluation of maternal and child efforts of Mumbai Mobile Crèches across construction sites in Mumbai and Thane, child budgeting, and child rights specifically related to children living on streets in Mumbai Metropolitan Region. I have experience of using rights-based and results based approaches in program planning. I also have experience of developing server-based MIS for monitoring ANC, PNC, delivery, growth monitoring, and immunization for an urban-based NGO in New Delhi.
